ALMADA BUILDING

Through the study of the project Unité d’Habitation by Le Corbusier, this project followed the idea the architect claims, that the height of each story must vary depending on the space you are in. Later, we tried to establish a relation between the building and its surroundings, sharing some of the ideas of the Interpretation Point, but also contradicting others, recurring to fragment and orthogonal lines. Despite their similarities, the disposition of the houses and services totally differ.
The two modules in this project recurred to parallel lines, ripped up by a central street for pedestrians, making possible the access to the services, multipurpose rooms and vertical distribution. To create dynamism in the building, there were created full and void spaces, re-organizing the houses and creating balconies and intermediate spaces, making possible to exist light points and landscape views to the exterior.
